iSPIRT ProductNation Playbook RoundTable on Product Management: Ship of Theseus (Bangalore)
17th October, 2013 @ 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM
iSPIRT ProductNation Playbook Roundtable’s objective is to support the emerging software product development industry in India. This #PlaybookRT on Product Management will be led by Shivku – Techie & Founder of Exotel. We seek your participation in this roundtable to share, discuss and learn about challenges in product management. You can apply for the round table by clicking here.
Objective & Theme:
As an entrepreneur starting up, we often try not to write code from scratch. We borrow/steal from various frameworks or software that perform a function similar/parallel to what I have in mind, assemble them together and then, tinker it. If & when it catches on, my team will replace it piece by piece until the “Ship of Theseus” kicks in. “Ship of Theseus” is a paradox that raises the question of whether an object which has had all its components replaced remains fundamentally the same object.
In this round table, we will attempt to ponder at questions such as:
- How do I know if a product that was successful abroad will be successful for us in India too?
- How do you analyse the potential for success or failure of the Product.
- What do I know that Western product makers don’t know about India? How can I make full use of it to compete effectively?
The round table will have real world examples from Exotel’s 2 and a half year journey to inspire, confuse and motivate us. The session will be conducted by experienced product managers and will focus on giving practical, actionable mentorship to the product start-ups on aspects of product management and delivery.
Background:
At Exotel – Amongst other things – We took an American product (OpenVBX) and are making it to work for India. Apart from giving us a special opportunity to understand the minds of the western product maker & consumer, this gives us a framework to understand if & how the Indian Psyche is different.
Applications are due by October 13th. This workshop is free to attend and you can register here.
